Werris Creek Mine

Werris Creek Mine is located 4km south of Werris Creek on the Quirindi Road. Open cut production commenced in 2005, and has mine life of about 7 years.

The coal produced at Werris Creek (100% Whitehaven) has low to medium ash, low sulphur, low phosphorous and medium to high volatility. Werris Creek is permitted to extend production to 2.5Mtpa. Coal from Werris Creek is transported directly by rail from Werris Creek to the Port of Newcastle.
